Been thinking about getting a new DS and Pokemon X/Y.

My only problem is that it looks kind of dumb. I don't think I'll have any fun with the new Pokemon and I don't really know what makes it so much different/better than the other games.

Enlighten me.

I also think Soul Silver/Heart Gold were the best DS installments ever and they should have made a Crystal version.

Maybe this will help. I used to be a complete casual, I loved HG/SS and Platinum. Didn't like gen 5. Never understood how IVs EVs or natures worked. I also never clocked more than 50 hours into any pokemon game.

On X I learned how all that shit works and I have 148 hours currently clocked. Is it the best pokemon game? No. Is it damn entertaining? Yes.

It's a fucking Pokemon game, how is it supposed to get any better or different or why should it even be better or different in the first place?

It's just as good, there plenty of Pokemon to choose from, you get the gen 1 starters... Pokemon is Pokemon.

Certified genwunner here, I fucking love it. You get a Kanto starter on top of your Kalos starter, and there are Gen I and II Pokemon everywhere. Plus the new ones are pretty cool. My team is Charizard, Lucario, Tyrantrum, Haxorus, Pidgeot, and Greninja, so I have a nice mix of new and old I think.

The game won't work on a DS, you need a 3DS (or a 2DS if you're one of those weird people who don't like 3D games or films) to play X and Y.

If you like pokemon you'll like X and Y it's as simple as that. The main improvements are in the graphics and in game mechanisms that have been tweaked or made more visible, like supertraining. Breeding seems to be a bit faster too so if you want to breed for competitive battles that is now a quicker thing to do (still takes some time and effort though).

All in all the changes give you better control over your pokemon, which is a good thing as your friend list is easily accessible and tells you when people are online to battle or trade with as well as an aquantance and passerby list which provides more contacts. XY's main strength is to make it easier to connect battle and trade with others and it does a good job at it.

The storyline is a little easy compared to HG and SS but you'll have a lot of fun along the way, the champion is a complete walk over sadly but you can't have everything.

Pidgeot isn't good as smogon bird, blushie, or even sanic bird now that it has boomburst. He's still my favorite bird, design wise.
Plus the story mode is so piss easy you could beat it with a team of Bibarels.

Oh, I know. It's just surprising. Pidgeot is as big fan favorite despite being so completely underpowered.

I wish they'd give it Gale Wings and Extremespeed. Both are fitting and would benefit it greatly.
