Lightfag here. I'd like to discuss the logic of adding in a Light type.
(Now, in Japanese the Light type would be known as the Saint type.)
Light type doesn't cover simply physical light, but metaphorical light: holiness and healing. It is the opposite of Dark in the sense of being honorable combat and foolish overconfidence, and the opposite of Fairy in the sense of being associated with the Sun (where Fairy is associated with the Moon).
Light type could be mutually supereffective against Dark to represent Yin/Yang duality. Ice and Grass could be resistant or even immune to Light (mostly because they need buffs).
