The only real way of easily manipulating the spread in xy is the time machine. It's still a pain in the ass with a 50/50 chance of screwing up even with the right distribution, but it's better than nothing.

I bred a HP Fire Magnezone in X. With the help of Power Items it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The only difficult part was catching Dittos with the right 30s.
