So, I want to use Glaceon on a Hail Team in XY. inb4 shitstorm, yes I understand that Glaceon is shit-tier and Hail is Magikarp-tier in this gen, but I'm going up against locals and friends and not Smogonfags with 5-IV Choice-Scarved mons, so no worries. Anyways, I'm just looking for a way to make Glaceon a little more viable than a "kind-of bulky kind-of Blizzard sweeper". I know its movepool is extremely limited, but can anyone come up with a tricky/surprising moveset? In return, I'll add you if you need a Ghost Safari.

OP here: I just realized I have a box of 4-perfect-IV Honedges to trade for advice if that's more of an incentive. Captcha: sticky thickets.

bump. Honedge for legitimate ideas. Hit me.

Choice Specs and four offensive moves. Choice Scarf and four offensive moves. Baton Pass to act as a pseudo Volt-turn. Leftovers+Ice Body with Substitute to throw powerful Blizzards safely behind a sub.

>>17029168 I'm still torn between Snow Cloak and Ice Body. Snow Cloak depends on luck, but could prevent an entire hit - which is worth more life than Ice Body ever seems to recover (1/16th per turn). Ice Body is more reliable, but doesn't do much.

it gets Barrier. If you feel kind of daring, you could make it a crappy version of Espeon with Frost Breath, Shadow Ball/Baton Pass, Stored Power, and Barrier

Use some non ice type pokémon too. Mandibuzz with Overcoat or Sigyliph with Magic Guard may be useful and give you more coverage.

Do you want an actual decent hail team or to just use glaceon somewhere on your team?

>>17029168 Also, you can support Glaceon with Hail and Trick room to make it a powerful sweeper or a wall-breaker.

>>17029263 Interesting idea. Frost Breath is 60 power, always crits so 120 power, higher accuracy than Blizzard. And Barrier + Baton Pass would be sweet.
>>17029287 I'm trying to stick to Ice types actually, going for that Gym Leader feel.
>>17029291 Any ideas for an all-Ice Hail team would be welcome. I'm wanting to use Mega Abomasnow and Glaceon as the center-piece, with Froslass opener and an Avalugg wall in there somewhere.

>>17029315 Was already toying with the idea of having Froslass as a throwaway Trick Roomer (I say throwaway since I've never seen one survive a single hit).

>>17029343 >going for that Gym Leader feel. Stop this unless you are being forced
there is a reason gym leaders are supposed to be the main challenge in a game intended for 10 year old children

You guarantee basically at least one kill and one -lingering something of your choice-
Usually that's spikes to break other sashes and do residual damage

Anyone know if Bright Powder combos with Snow Cloak for 35% evasion?

>>17029343 crits got nerfed this Gen - they only do 1,5 times ore, so 90 Power

>>17029436 Ah, well, still more reliable than Blizzard now that it's not 100% accuracy in Hail.

Trick Room+Iron Ball on Glaceon is good, she works really well in doubles with a Trick Room Specs Blizzard in the hail.
Brightpowder+Snow Cloak is a bit cheesy but good as it's not like she's really going to be surviving a hit anyway.

>>17029480 Eh? Blizzard isn't 100% Accurate in hail anymore? I haven't heard anything about that.
Sketchward (3711 - 7680 - 2012)
>>17029493 That's cool, I'll throw Trick Room onto my Froslass and try it as a doubles team I guess. That's going to be one hell of a fragile team, though.

It can be viable in three teams. Gravity teams. Hail Teams and Trick Room teams. (only doubles)
For singles, just attach and Specs and hit as hard as you can with Ice beam or Bliizard. with shadow ball you have perfect coverage.

Are the only Ice types I use on my TR Doubles team but they really work wonders, Ice Body to counter Life Orb damage as you can't really do anything in Doubles without protect so Specs aren't as good.
