Why is the rate of getting a female starter only 12.85%? Is Game Freak a group of sexist misogynist scum?

But seriously, what is up with that? I would have appreciated a 50/50 split, it's rather annoying to hatch for grill starters.

The only grill starter I ever got was Chikorita in Crystal AND Soul Silver. I picked Totodile for Silver and wanted to vary, but I never got through the first gym in Crystal because I lost interest so it didn't feel like it counted.

Before I say this, yes I know dittos make this point moot. That's why dittos are typically only found in one area, MAYBE two, and they're usually a good portion of the way into the game.

It's to make it harder to breed for starters. It's the same with any pokemon that's supposed to have a certain rarity, like eevee

It's because these species are supposed to be rare, like eevee which has similar if not same rate. If these species were found in the wild, they'd be hard to come by because most wouldn't be able to reproduce their own kind. Thus they're rare
