battle themes used to be awesome but in gen 5 and 6 only the villians had good battle themes.

The removal of that and the red health theme were two of the greatest improvements X and Y have over gen 5.

I'd probably say azalea town from the original gold/silver games. Something about that chiptune sound and foot-tappin' rhythm just gets the blood pumping again.

But that's just the nostalgia talking.

If i had to pick a proper favorite, it would have to be the Shadow Lugia battle theme. What a climactic way to end pokemon XD. The range that is covered by the string section is amazing and just chills you to the bone. The heavy drums cascading at the end of each section really amplify the intensity of the battle. The whole game has been leading up to this point, and if you're not gonna be a dick and just waste the master ball straight away, you're in for a hell of a treat!

Probably one of the best soundtracks out of any pokemon game (default win due to technology) it is a shame they never made a 3rd game to the series. Genius Sonority pls.
