The end product is completely different than what you start with.
Like, when you were a kid you picked Charmander you knew it was going to end up as a badass dragon. If you picked Totodile you knew you'd get a cool intimidating gator pokemon.
But there's none of that now. Evolutions don't make sense. Snivy turns into a snake when you'd expect it to become a dragon, Tepig turns into an ugly bipedal fighting pig, Fennekin turns into a disgusting bipedal wizard. And this fucking ugly monstrosity.
If there's one pokemon that SHOULD resemble its final form, it should be the starters. I'm okay with evolutions like Magikarp > Gyarados but damn they should really just cool it down with these starter evolutions and make them less crazy.
