Being truthful makes it harder to feel hurt, since your expectations won't be able to be crushed as easily. But if you're idealistic, you may be able to figure out new things no one else has found or feel satisfied when things do go your way.

It's best to have a healthy balance. The world isn't black and white, after all. In the case of Game Freak though, I do agree you should skew a bit further from the idealistic side.
