Has anyone here ever played Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch? I imagine a real-time, more exciting action-y Pokemon game could be that way.

The game controls are clunky and awkward at best. The story was meh, and the monster evolutions were all palette swaps. Its battle system is litterally rock paper scizors and they still manage to fuck that up because none of it matters. Just run around casting fireball as oliver and you dont even need to use your familiars. The only thing good about it is the visuals, even the "epic" music sounds bland and generic after awhile, not to mention inappropriate during some cut scenes.

oh and I forgot all the stupid easy fetch quest the game has you doing. and you know what the worst fucking point is? even though the difficulty starts to ramp up halfway through the game, THEY NEVER STOP HOLDING YOUR FUCKING HAND. Jesus christ game i know how to talk to two fucking people.

Look at Natural Selection 1 and 2 for an example of how to do it.

Most of the mechanics are already in NS2 so it'd be easy to do.
