What was /vp/'s general reaction to the walking pokemon system of HGSS? Loathed gimmick or was that an appreciated feature?

Annoying that you can't turn it off if you want though, it's a major part of the game that's forced down your throat.

I liked walking with my Pokemon, but I wish there was a way to disable it when it wasn't desired.
