So we're all sick of the whole 'muh nostalgias' and 'yeah shit was great back in the 90s' but goddamn did this video literally bring tears to my eyes.

My Pokemon Gold save battery just died off 3 years ago. How did you guys react when (if) you had that experience?

I started over so many times I didn't have any attachment to my file. Somehow red is still going, but silver and possibly crystal died. I'll just be bummed when red goes, cause I won't be able to mess with the glitches as easily

I actually saw this posted here on /vp/ a few months back. I can totally relate to the guy, except for the awkward voice, what's up with that? Very heartwarming and nostalgic though, reminds me of the 700+ hours I had on my Silver. I was so sad when I found out they were gone.

I think the reason people look back so fondly is because Pokemon was an actual craze back then. It all started to peter out a while after G/S were released but for those couple of golden years it was really nice, every kid wanted to be a Pokemon trainer back then.

And not only that. Back in R/B/Y and G/S/C, you had no idea what the world was going to be like, what cities you were going to explore, and you only got to know like half a dozen of new Pokémon beforehand.
It was that feeling of starting a whole new adventure in a whole new unknown world, completely unexplored. Also, no internet, so you couldn't really know squat, you'd have to figure shit out on your own.

I actually had internet back then and it made it so much better, weirdly. Rumors were everywhere and just the fact alone that a secret Pokemon that wouldn't even show up on the Pokedex as a "??????" until you saw him was in the game, as well as Missingno, made it feel like there really were a million secrets. I remember the disappointment when I found that nothing would move the SS Anne truck though, I wanted that Mew. Ended up doing a trade and trade back at McDonalds one time with a kid from America was on vacation and stopped through my small town, all my friends were jelly as fuck because the closest Pokemon events were a couple hours away so no one really even had the Pokedex entry.

Even without internet the rumors still did spread though, like the Orange Isles and all kinds of shit, that was the beauty of it. I actually had internet too back when I got my Silver in 2000/2001, but didn't use it much because it was expensive.

But ahh, the memories of those geocities websites with tricks and secrets that would just not work.

I cried when Crystal died. Though, I'm mostly upset with myself for not writing down the stats/nicknames when I got the warning of the game about to die. I'm just so glad I still have access to my 10 year old+ pokemon from Hoenn despite my dislike of RS. They may not be battle worthy like my current pokemon, but they will always be special to me.

I also cried when I lost my original Blue save file as well. However, I was 10 when that happened because I was impatient when my friend was getting Mew for me. I caught all 150 pokemon legit. I just wanted the last one... Stung worse when the real Mew glitch was discovered years later.

I'm currently playing through Crystal to get all 251. I already have Mewtwo and Mew traded from a Red and a Blue. But it's impossible to get a Celebi isn't it?

Never had R/B/G/Y die out on me, but I did have G and Y stolen from me.

And although I do like Gen 1 a lot, I didn't really dive full into pokemon till Emerald.
I had played R&S (Owned Sapphire, played Ruby), but they were shit compared to Emerald.
And when Emerald was stolen from me, I cried for a long ass time, since I had Mew, Lati@s, Deoxys, Celebi, Jirachi, and a couple of others from events, and it was actually legit. Traded pokemon for that exp boost, went to events, traded to evolve and complete the pokedex, linked up to FR/LG to get Kanto starters and pokes, linked up to Colliseum, etc.
All to have a bunch of classmates steal your hardwork and effort from you. I fucking hated real life kids back then, and I still do now.
