Hatched two shiny Froakie today within 200 eggs and caught a shiny bibarel whilst getting parents in FS

Hatching 3000 eggs for a palette swap is definitely NOT what you are supposed to do. Checking with a community to hatch an egg might take an hour or two, spending 40-50 hours hatching eggs might not be feasible for everyone

Just got my 6IV shiny jpn ditto today. It's weird how I enjoy breeding more than competitive play. I honestly wish they would do more with what you can do with pokemon rather than cock fighting.

I mean I really liked the idea of pokemon contests in ruby/saff

Never thought I'd agree with that, but I do. I was a big time genner back in gen 3, 4, and 5. Now that they've changed the breeding mechanics, it's actually...fun? Although I have to admit that the 6IV Ditto is making it WAY easier which is sort of sucking the fun out of it again.

Breed a 5IV Parent that has the right nature and egg moves already with a 6IV Ditto. Give the Everstone and Destiny Knot to the appropriate Pokemon and you're good to go. Doesn't take long at all, especially with a flame body Talonflame in your party (can fly and hatch eggs faster at the same time).

Biggest challenge was the first 5IV I bred in the game; Timid 5IV Magician Fennekin. It was so hard because I was basically working with only Friend Safari Pokemon as breeding partners. As you get more Pokemon in various egg groups, they can breed with eachother to make the process easier. But if you're starting from scratch, it ain't easy at all. Took me 3 solid days to get that first 5IV. After I finally got it, I just used the 5IV parent to breed with a 4IV female fennekin and mass produced the fuckers. Then I traded the 4-5IV babies for 4-5IV babies of other groups which made breeding other pokemon easier.

I know it's possible to get HA 2nd and 5th Gen starters through Pokebank, but I've yet to see anyone trade them away. Not sure why, but it's almost like they don't exist. I've seen people on here claim to have them, but whenever someone asks for a trade, they mysteriously disappear. Good luck to you two though.
