I think you mean resistances, because the smart thing to do is keep him regular Gyarados until either a rock/electric move is imminent, or you're ready to sweep. Really the only piss on his parade is Mega Lucario's Vacuum Wave, but without Nasty Plot boosts it won't kill you.

He's basically Garde with the attack and spattack switched. Looks good on paper but shit in execution.

No physical bulk with low hp
Too fast to use Trick Room, too slow to really sweep
Relies a lot on egg/tutor moves
Outclassed by Mega Medicham, which is actually funny
Shit abilities
No mega despite his other half getting one

There are times I think GF hates him.

Heracross is my favourite Pokémon ever, which is strange because I actually never had one in a team until Soul Silver, and that was the last time I had one. But I loved him before that game and only got him because I loved the Pokémon.

I remember catching one of these fuckers in Crystal and never knowing that it evolved through Fire Stone. I leveled up the Growlithe to level 100 and I had never given up on evolving into Arcanine and I loved this guy forever.

In the end, a few years later, when I finally learned about the Fire Stone, I went back into my old Crystal cart, saw my bro Gin, and evolved him at last to what he is today.

Torterra was the last starter I used in gen 4 after a few playthroughs. I tried him out in Platinum when I didn't really know how to build a balanced team and I got swept under the rug by the E4 and their Ice Fangs. After that I thought Torterra was a piece of shit.

Not long ago I did a run on Diamond and decided to pick Turtwig so I could trade him to Platinum. That was the only reason why I picked him, and planned to trade in a Piplup from Platinum and then make Leafeon my grass type for the game. After a while I started to lean more on keeping Torterra on my team because of his typing and better move pool. Then he became Grotle and started fucking shit up at Wrastlin' man's gym because I didn't have an electric type to beat him so Grotle cursed it up and fucked his shit over. Then he became Torterra, learned Earthquake and Woodhammer and we bent the whole region over.

Got back into Pokemon early last year. Started playing on Showdown and had a good time. Was there when X and Y was first announced, saw the Mewtwo releases and starter releases on /vp/.

Saw Froakie and instantly knew he was the starter for me. As a kid I never picked the water types, but as I've grown up I realized that the water types are actually really fucking cool.

Picked up X since my friends all got Y for the edgy legendary. Picked Froakie and super trained to max before I even fought my first wild Pokemon. Blew through the game and got a female Protean Froakie, bred the male with the female until I got the desired baby, so my original Froakie carries his legacy on in his children.

I've bred so many Froakies it's not even possible to describe. I first tried a physical attacker, then pure special. I tried mixed for a bit and found I liked mostly special with U-Turn. Now I'm almost done breeding a perfect HP Fire Greninja using Froakies related to the first one I ever had.

Every team I use ingame and on Smogon has Greninja. I've used him so much I can tell you how much damage he'll do most targets on average, and how much damage he can take before he'll finally croak from most common attacks. He's definitely the coolest Pokemon I've used since I came back to this game.

I love the Magnemite line. Eviolite Resttalk Magneton is hella viable, I've been using it on and off in the 1800s-1900s on Showdown (I know it's not that high, but I don't exactly use a cookie cutter team. Magnezone is still a great trapper, but shit like Aegislash and Mega Luc hurt Magnezones viability drastically.

I've also toyed around with Assault Vest Magnezone since it has great bulk and can abuse Analytic, that's also viable too but depending on what your team is lacking classic Lefties set might be better.

My brother in law runs M-Aerodactyl in his singles team (Charizard-Y in his doubles) and I found a suprising solution to both. HA Jolteon with Toxic Orb. With Timid nature, it even outspeeds most scarfs after the toxic proc. One shots M-Aerodactyl most of the time, outspeeds it, and can 1 or 2 shot Char-Y. YMMV, but worth a shot.

As for the thread, this happy fucker has been a bro from day 3 of my owning Pokemon Red.

I've recently started to really love fossil pokemon ever since I visited a museum that has a massive collection of fossils and bones and such. I've been collecting ammonites for a while a now so I guess my favourite right now would be Omanyte or Omastar ever since I've learned more about the prehistoric creature they were based on.
