Has anyone felt that starters are getting shittier every generation after the Golden Age that is Gen 3/4? It feels like a half-assed attempt to promote diversity by Gamefreak. There are exceptions though, but those that stood out are overrated frail sweepers.

Why not make starters encounterable in the wild while at it?
