Gary. He was pathetic against my team. He had a total of the starter you were weak to, Raticate, Gyarados, Pidgeot, Alakazam, Rhydon, Exeggutor, Arcanine in Gen 1. I wasn't dumb enough to not get good Pokemon, so I ravaged him each time I fought against him. Even in the damned POKEMON LEAGUE, I destroyed him.

The worst rival was Brendan/May from RSE. They didn't even fully evolve their starters. I always wondered whether that was intentional, or if Game Freak kinda just half-assed them because of time constraints.

In hindsight, they're not THAT bad. Rival-wise I found them better than Hugh and Brendan/May, the latter which will always be low no matter what happens.

I actually found the gen 3 rivals challenging at certain points. In particular, that fight just before Mauville and Wally at the end of Victory Road. I never expected that fucker to come back like that.
