So i have been wondering this for a bit. So every time you add on to your chain is reduces the rate of finding a shiny right? Lets say you make it to a 20 or 30 chain where the rate is pretty decent. Could you then just keep resetting the radar until a shiny comes?

yes, although you should just get to 40 anyway because the rate is much higher AND anything caught after 40 has 3 guaranteed 31 IVs

I've never heard that theory before, but sure if you like shit shinies go for it. When you get to 40 chain you have a 1/200 chance of getting a shiny and 2 IV shinies. I don't know why you would think your chances go down because they actually go up

Nah i MM most of my shinies. These are for trophies mainly. Plus my gf isnt much a battler and when i give her shit shinies of pokes she likes she give me awesome reward sex, so its a win win for me

It's 60. The IVs of everything you encounter increase every 20 encounters after 40. You may have gotten 3iv at 40 out of sheer luck, but 2 is all that's guaranteed.

I've never been able to get a chain above 16 in Pearl, and I can't get one above fucking four in this game.

depends there are two types of shaking grass this Gen, hard shaking and light shaking, then different speeds they shake at. To rehash 100 guides, don't go to borders, to go into grass that doesn't shake the same, but the fastest shaking grass is where the Mon you want is, and don't go into a patch right next to you. And now that you can run diagonally that means patches next to you in any direction. Watch a guide or something if you still aren't managing but find a large patch and fo after easy as shit Pokemon first

Also another question. What does it mean when the music changes from the normal tune? I was on a good chain and a different song started playing then i just continued my chain. I dont recall hearing the noise of shiny grass

you reach your max at 60. You can't still get a four IV, but that's luck. You are just guaranteed 3 after 60

It's new to 6th gen, there was a thread on the Project Pokemon forums about it a while back. I'm not sure if anyone has successfully chained to 120, but I would assume that 6iv would be the result.

yes dittos are pretty easy to chain there. But the patch is large do don't run too far in one direction because the game registers that as leaving the area and your chain will break

there really isnt any reason to go past 40. if you caught something at "40" with 2 IVs you were probably on 39
