Do you agree that the 1st and 2nd generation of Pokemon games have aged well?

What defines "nostalgia" for you in those games? What makes you go back and replay them?

I wouldn't ever replay them. Super Mario World is older and has better graphics.

Fuck the nostalgia. I grew up with them and enjoyed them, but standards change. They did not age well.

I actually went and bought a Pokemon crystal guide the other day and plan on 100% completing it.

I also plan on finishing up 100% on my Blue version, I took a break from it a few months ago.

I'd say the games have aged extremely well, the "simple" factor to them is no way a negative thing.

Gen 2's empty kanto was terrible.

He means just the order you can do things.

Newer games force you to stay in the newest town until you do everything, get the badge and the HM.

Gen 1 didn't try to railroad or punish you for going the "wrong" way.

I think if you were new to them and played them today, they would feel very outdated.

Any game that you can only enjoy if you played it when you were young does not age well

So no Pokemon does not age well, nobody would pick up red/blue now and enjoy it if they didn't play it as a kid
Games like mario/sonic or some of the long running jrpgs, story driven ones not pokemon can easily be enjoyed even if you never had them before

Also if you're trying to make it look like Brock is stronger than Viola, keep in mind both of his Pokemon are 4x weak to two of the starters and easily instagibbed with two attacks.

I remember Brock being a bitch to beat if you had yellow version. Having to level up Pikachu so it gets quick attack so that it could even damage Brock's pokemon, and even then the damage inflicted was jack shit. You would have to grind even longer.

Yeah, I wish I knew back then. I would have definitely caught either of them, Butterfree and Nidoking are good pokemon. I'm planning on replaying yellow soon, so I'll go with that.
