The Pokemon world has to have some freakin' universities. Or colleges. Or something. Those professors have to get certified somewhere.

Which cities are good college towns? Maybe Celadon, Goldenrod, Hearthome for urban campuses. What programs are popular? Battling, breeding, contest "theory" (which is largely a joke, like art majors, unless you go to a really good school like Lilycove or Hearthome). But also Business (like if you go to Saffron, you can intern at Silph), and Engineering (Rustboro, Devon).

Maybe there's also special concentrations in each Pokemon type / move type. Guest lecturers could be gym leaders, even from other regions, and of course esteemed Professors, like Prof. Rowan giving a talk on the Evolution of Leafeon, Glaceon, Probopass and Magnezone. Yup, that specific, but the Evolution majors would shit themselves.

Maybe Smogon University exists on some godforsaken hidden Sevii Island and is considered the Harvard of battling, although maybe not, as there's considerable controversy over whether or not a Smogon degree means anything at all.
