Sure, I wouldn't be able to bring up some of my favourite pixels, but hackers would get shut down. So to me, that's easily a worthwhile trade-off.

Exactly this. It's unavailable for download, but if you managed to grab it, it's usable. Grabbed all my 6IV dittos and don't even feel bad about it.

honestly, and I know people will disagree, once you start filling the pokedex by trading you realize how useless the pokebank is anymore. legends can be cloned.

I'm actually thinking the pokebank not being released sounds plausible for this very fact.

There is a post-game to this game, and it's 'catching them all'. Releasing bank for a few hours so a small number of people can download it and then taking it away forever won't stop people from being able to get all the pokemon.
