Mike and his team had just barely ducked into an open portal into the Distortion World, narrowly avoiding an explosive barrage of ordnance in Sootopolis. Things were looking rather grim; he'd already had to go through quite a bit of medicine just to keep his team on their feet, and he had only the Black Mage and his team as backup. ...Now they didn't even have that; the Mage had gotten caught in the blast and flung through the portal, flying off through the Distortion World at an unknown speed. Trying to catch him and slow him down might not even be possible... but they had to try, right?

The timely dubs reaction of Mike and his team allowed them go grab the Black Mage as he went flying. Even with Mike's team doing everything they could, it was still quite a jarring landing for all involved. Samus, Mike's Blaziken, was used to high-speed impacts; given her jumping power, she had to deal with gravity all the time.
