You can't use Greninja in any other way, his job it's the finisher you send him at the end of the match to cover for your fallen pokemon. He won't take more than 2 hits that with luck

Depends what you're playing. Greninja outspeeds more or less the entire metagame with that base 122. It isn't taking a hit either way, so there isn't much point putting them in defenses.
