Everyone random generates a Pokémon and then gives it (or its evolutionary family) a signature ability. It can be gimmicky or actually good, depending on how you feel about that particular Pokémon and yourself at that moment.
If the Pokémon you end with already has a signature ability, you can choose whether to give it another one or to make up a signature move instead.
