Best starters competitively by gen:

Venusaur because of chlorophyll.

Feraligatr because the other two are pure shit.

Blaziken, unfortunately, for obvious reasons.

Infernape because of its incredible movepool, stats, and abilities.

Gen 5 was pretty shitty. I guess serperior?

Greninja because of protean and its speed/movepool.

Serperior is actually the worst Gen V starter.
Emboar is the one with the highest usage. Iirc it was RU last gen. Samurott was pretty common in NU. Serperior was hardly ever seen in NU.

No LO recoil only works for moves boosted by Sheer Force. You still get recoil when Aqua Jetting.
Not when Waterfalling or Crunching, though.
