Somebody explain to me why Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time had SUCH a beautiful story and probably one of the only games Nintendo put their heart into making.

just the writing team they hired for it probably, it's pretty cliche like most pokemon games, but it played off a lot better in the end.
That being said, mystery dungeon is without a doubt my favorite part of pokemon, the games, the universe, all that shit is what keeps me coming back, hoping the gen 6 one will be better than gates to infinity.

Just the amount of character feels and the attachment you get towards the characters is what made me love this game and all the sacrifices and friend losses made me teary after getting to know everyone. Too bad it will be another few years before we get another Pokémon MD, and I doubt we'll ever one similar to this again...

It was beautiful by pokemon standards to be sure, but those standards are pretty damn low. Weak characters + almost pointless first third = mediocre. Stop patronizing this and get some standards!

Or maybe you're just seeing something in it that I'm not, I dunno.

Cried at MD Blue and Explorers of Time, not even ashamed to admit it. Simple writing, but very effective. XY writers should have taken a leaf out of their book. (Don't get me wrong I love XY to hell and back but it had weedy writing)

Also they all have incredible music and sound design.

I like them for a completely different reason: they're relatively easy to adapt to the tabletop. I'm working on a /tg/ Mystery Dungeon as we speak. Starters instead of classes, legendaries instead of gods, etc.
