Of course, Malamar is a squid put upside down. They're the Revolving and Overturning Pokémon. Their own, signature move is Topsy Turvy, a move which reverses stat changes. Malamar is also based on the mind flayers, powerful entities with enormous mental power...yet Malamar reverses that, being very weak on the special side but strong on the physical one. They look like water Pokémon and live near water, but they're Dark/Psychic.
If you use a little GameFreak logic, you think "what if i turn the thing upside down?". The problem is that you find Inkay at lv14 so it would be hard for someone who imagined this to keep testing it.
