That IS where the "kun" part comes from. While weeaboos only know it as a name suffix used when talking to younger males, the meaning of the word itself is "lord" (though you can't use it on its own to mean that, only in compound words).
"Suikun" is pretty straight Japanese for "Lord of Water".

I didn't say it always changes, I said that's when it changes. There aren't any words that have a G followed by any vowel aside from E or I where the sound is changed to a J sound, and if there are then they are exceptions.

The name Aegislash, however, is pronounced however it originally was by its namers (GameFreak).
