Her actual character originates from Red and Green concept sketches from way back before Adventures was even conceived, such as pic related. There were plans from the beginning to include her as a playable character in the Gen I days, but none of it panned out and it ended up becoming beta material. It's from these concept sketches that Blue is derived from for Adventures, which comes out a sometime after this ordeal. The misconception is that Blue from Adventures inspired the game iteration but that's far from the truth.
Despite her disappearance in Gen I, when remakes were announced in the Gen III days, they took said sketches and concept art and redesigned her into an officially unnamed character whom we all commonly know as Leaf. To match this redesign, Blue in Adventures changed her wardrobe to match it.
Of course either way this is all still gratuitous autism trivia.
