This is a monotype tournament. We all were aware of all possible matchups prior to choosing our type and building our team, and we all built our teams to best handle everything we could be matched against.

Fighting was in the top 5 coming in, and ended up in the bottom two due to two unfavorable match ups. Stuff like this works when all players are on equal footing, but in a tournament where some people have an outright advantage vs others, the results just aren't as satisfying. Specially when you take into effect that your standing coming in to the final round has no effect on your final stranding.

I think, at first, it would be good to post a megathread to get the word out and get people to try to challenge us. We need a "champ". If this thing ever gets big enough, individual leaders could make threads broadcasting they are "open for business," or something. Who knows. Maybe after a few months, a leader will get bored and want to quit or w/e. We could have a mini-tourney to elect a replacement.
Time to discuss this stuff after this round is over, I say.

I think it would be a good idea to start the challenge as soon as we pick our eight gym leaders. That will certainly hype up the league in general. I don't think it's a good idea to allow people to straight up challenge a gym leader for their title right away. This tournament took a month with lots of hard battling for the eight leaders to earn their spots. I don't think any of them would like to lose their title over a best two-of-three. 3. Can't use a type with super-effective STAB. Bug vs Fighting and Steel vs Flying are fine, for example, just not Electric vs Flying. Ghost vs Ghost and Dragon vs Dragon should be allowed, though.
4. No legendaries. No one wants to fight a Genesect or Thundurus or some crap. It just feels annoying.
I feel like stuff like mega-broken mons should be voted on. We all used them this go 'round, but because of the monotype factor, I never felt like they were overwhelming. Without all the mixed team support for your mega-broken, it's not as broken.

I think all these rules about no two leaders can use any one Pokemon and banning specific sets of megas are bad ideas.
The only rule I'm for is no legendaries.
And I don't think challengers should be allowed to switch up anything about their teams.
And I think gym leaders shouldn't be able to be bounced from their position until the next tournament, if ever there should be one.
So that's my vote.

I say that challengers get 5 Pokémon that they're stuck with and can't change out, including one legendary allowed in flat rules. The 6th slot is a wildcard

However, I can't say the same for the removal of restrictions on challenger parties. Both a legendary and a substitutable wildcard removes a whole lot of difficulty from the challenge. Now not only are challengers allowed to adjust their party to best suit their next battle, they also have a legendary powerhouse to fall back on "just in case". That just sounds like overkill to me.
