FAQ:
"Is Lamoby a starter?": No. We voted, it's a route-mon if anything.
"Is anything completely confirmed?" Not really. We're still in the early stages of the project. HOWEVER, starter polls are up (water starter survey is still wip)

Every thread has some vague idea of what they're going to talk about that time around, but it almost never ever carries more than 2 or 3 threads. looks like we have some bro tier starters coming out so far. I'd still like to point out that we should have some kind of final coherent theme for lot of them though. Someone pointed out they should be australian icons like BBQ, Surfing, and a Ranger. I feel like the Surfer and Ranger could work, but the BBQ thing could be something else. Also the best part is the theme doesn't have to be readily visible in the baby stage, and only hints of it in the second. So we still have some time to finalize on that. If it's worth a damn I'd like the fire starter's final theme to be something just implicating intense heat rather than immediate fire.

I think it'd be pretty neat having the base stages being one bipedal, one that is on all fours and one that can stand on it's hind legs but is mainly on quads. Only thing that puzzles me slightly is the holes in the tail.

Fire being strong yet passive and lethargic
Grass being nimble and devious (smug is a nice word for it too)

Love the new eyes on it though, they allow for a new color in the pallet besides what the tail used to, and the cat grin makes him look all the more menacing. They're starting to look more like characters.
Still wish I could think of another icon the fire could take where we have surfer platypus and possibly ranger sugar glider.

Said extra can range from a elemental quality (most common) to various cultural influences, both ancient and modern.
While it's fine to stick to general types of animal, i find pokemon that are based around a specific species to be far more interesting, especially in an environment as secluded as Australia and surrounding Oceania.
PokeAus was intended to be a unique fanmade generation from it's inception after all.

I had an idea, and I'll post some sketches if anyone is mildly interested. Firstly, for about eight months I dated a guy from New Zealand. One of the cuter things I remember about him is how he loved "Fairy Toast". So, I thought a play off of this regional item would be cool for a fairy type Pokemon. I was thinking a sort of flabebe type design in the sense that it's a small pokemon near a large item it's related to. The Pokemon would be pure Fairy type. I was throwing around names, Sprixie, is the best one I could come up with so far. (Sprinkles + Pixie) This Pokemon has two different evolutions. One would be a fairy/steel type, that a male evolves into via something. (Maybe Metal coat, maybe when it's in a specific area?) It's name would be Vegiknight. (Vegimite + Knight). The design would involve a more manly, giant butter knife weilding fairy. Lastly, a female would evolve into a fairy/dark name Lamesty (Lamington and Majesty). A more feminine pokemon sitting atop a chocolate lamington. If you're mildly interested, feel free to help with the designs, give imput, whatever.

Why don't we have it so that it can swim properly but helps OTHER pokemon swim in the water.
Ex: Platypus sees a Thorndle trying to cross a river, Platypus proceeds to allow the Thorndle onto its tail (grabbing onto the holes on it) and swim it across.
As it evolves, its tail becomes more stable, and heavier/more pokemon can use its tail to travel longer distances on it.

The smaller tail of the ones in these sketches not only more closely resembles that of the first evo, but also plays into the whole mischievous, devilish appearance of the line, as it suggests that the Pokemon is agile and has a lot of maneuverability to get around- as if it flies around the forest playing tricks. instead of being weighted down by the giant ass tails in the picture you posted. I prefer the shape of the wings in the sketches and their greater span for the same reason. These wings also give it a sort of gargoyle look which I liked.
