Do IVs make that much of a difference? I'm going crazy trying to breed my team. Feels like the majority of my time playing this game is breeding.

do numbers matter in a game about numbers? yeah. IV's are starts, the better your stats are the better your pokemon. everyone else is going to have iv maxed pokemon in competitive play, yours won't stand up much of a chance against theirs if you have random low iv's

depends. Do you plan on playing competitively? Then yes.

Personally, when it comes to obtaining perfect ,ivs i only ever worry about the Speed stat. A one point difference in speed between you and your opponent matters way more i believe than one point difference in Atk, Def, etc. That's not to say that i don't try to get SOME ivs in other stats. I just get enough, but not perfect...

So far, I've been doing good and being happy with superior Pokemon as long as it doesn't say their IVs are shit in an single area. Then again I've been finding some unconventional ways to utialize moves and some stats.

You don't say.
It's pretty much expected of the player to go through all of the tedium once the main game is over.
And that can take a long time depending on the game.

It's easier and faster to get pokemon with perfect stats than it is to take the extra time to calculate precisely what the imperfect IVs are for every single thing you hatch. It actually takes more effort now to get the correct nature, as that's an RNG shitfest until you are able to come up with a compatible mon that has it.

I did a test at level 50. For Alakazam with a speed of 0, compared to 31 it was only a difference of 16 stat points, but since me and my friends are very competitive I still do them, we all do IV's and you might as well get every edge you can get.

31 IV's means it will have 31 extra stat points by level 100. So of course it wouldn't be as beneficial at level 50.

Breeding takes a while in the beginning but then it gets stupidly easy.

By the time you have 2 parents with 5 perfect IVs each, you're almost guaranteed to get another 5 IV mon from every batch.

Furthermore, if you have just ONE father with 5 perfect IVs, you can now use him with any other female in his egg groups to make different pentaperfect mons. If you have at least 1 pentaperfect male in each egg group, which isn't THAT hard to do, you can now breed pentaperfect mons of any species in a flash.

Really? I had no idea that 1 IV equaled 1 stat point at level 100. Previously I had thought it was something like natures, a percentage amount.

I've never really looked into how much of an effect stats have. How much of a difference will 1, maybe 2 in ATK/SpA make?
If it's not too much, I'd probably settle with Speed and HP as the only required max IVs and accept shit with 29-30 in other IVs.

formula is multiplicative, and pokes have rally few HP when you think about it. 4-5 points difference make a difference really fast.
