Yeah I get the feeling that luck runs out or something.
When I was mm for Tyrunt I was in box 7 and decided to catch a little break, went to the safari for a synchronizer and boom! Shiny Sygyliph.
I felt like I used up my shiny moment.

I gave up after a couple of boxes so the Feebas was a nice make up for that.

I had nearly the same thing happen to me, I was hatching for a shiny Skarmory, literally broke 3,000 eggs and got nothing, so I gave up and went to grab an Absol from the friend safari and happened across a shiny Pawniard.

Just started trying to MM a shiny Moon ball Gastly. Currently using a Jap 5IV male Spiritomb with a 'Murrican 5IV female Gastly. Only 2 boxes down.

If anyone wants to help me out by sending a non-US male Gastly with 5/6 IVs, it would be much appreciated.

Yeah, you use two 6IVs. Eventually you'll get a guaranteed 5IV shiny.

with safari giving you 2 perfect IV by default the chances of catching one aren't that low.
they got clones afterward maybe, but the original ditto can be perfectly legit.
There are also people that got a perfect foreign poke that isn't a ditto but compatible with their current MM target. ditto aer convenient but not necessary to breed you know.
