ever notice how pokemon is always 10 years behind the graphics curve and no one ever seems to to care?

gen1/2- could have easily sufficed as nes game
gen 3/4- could have gotten away with being early-mid snes games

gen 5- would have been standard for a late ps1 game (nintendo scrapped sprites for awhile, and that's the only thing to compare(

gen6- could have easily sufficed as an early gamecube game/PS2 game

Just curious, why is this? While other nintendo series are pushing the envelope pokemon seems to stagnate

The games were all designed to be handhelds because the series' trading and battling mechanic suited the Game Boy series better than home-console (pre-internet).

The game boy essentially had the graphical capabilities of the NES, the GBA had the power of the SNES, the DS the power of the N64 and the 3DS the power of the gamecube.

So… yes the logic follows perfect sense.

Cause Gamefreak are full of lazy japs that know their shit will sell anyways. Just look at how buggy their games are.

It also explains why they have framerate issues and shitty 3D with such simple graphics when games like REvelations and KI:U run much smoother while looking much better at the same time.

Yes. It's been well established that Gamefreak is shit at making games. We wouldn't have got Kanto in G/S if some big Nintendo guy(might've been Iwata or somebody, I forget), didn't come down there and hugely compress the game.

And ofcourse their going to be limited by the technology their using.

Gen 1 was on a gameboy of fucking course its gonna look like shit, its actually one of the better look GB games.

Gen 4/5 were the only real gens in which they were phoning it in.

Yeah the graphics are lackluster and it's basically like buying a Nintendrone justified version of CoD. There's not much to say against it. Although the retro look is nice to me.

They added sky battles to come up with an excuse to ruin some designs like Xatu and took away some of the things that made the Pokemons desgins
Look at Kyerum forms tails not glowing for example, it looks bland

This is a way to silence the people that thought GF were always lazy in the graphics department, they plan to make the next game with sprites again justifying it by saying some of the designs weren't well recieved in the transation and fans clearly want sprites

This is disgusting they would ruin a game so they can half ass the next ones

there is a difference between retro and lazy, chrono trigger is retro (sad to say), mario and luigi is somewhat retro, kirby games are retro, the dragon quest remakes are retro

Pokemon has just always been lazy. The sprites should have had gen 5's animation implemented in gen 3

While we bashing the series, WHO IN THE FUCK thought that EVs and IVs were a good game mechanic?!

No sane person has that much time to devote to make a boxes of battling baddies, unless they are the tourney types or they are still in grade school.
