What's your favorite spidermon and what spider would you like to see a new Pokemon based on?

I like Metagross the most and want a Bug/Dark black widow.

Best spider is Galvantula because Joltik is the cutest. There needs to be a Bug/Ghost pokemon based on an Orb Weaver spider.

"Spiderbots" and the like are common in sci-fi, and I think that's what they were going for with Metagross, so it's based on things based on spiders.

It depends where you live, different places refer to different animals as "daddy long legs." Some places use it for the harvestman, some for the cellar spider, and some for the cranefly.

I'm rather surprised at the lack of spiders in Pokemon. There are so many possibilities, even in Japan there are tons of different kinds of spiders, in America you could take a 10 acre plot of land in some areas, and the variety of spiders you find in those 10 acres would give you dozens of potential spider based pokemon.

Although maybe the reason they avoid this is so that Bug-type isn't just spiders. And spiders aren't technically bugs to begin with, they are arachnids, so really calling Galvantula a bug type is poor judgement on GFs call.

Now I'm kinda miffed they are bug types at all.

I think that's also a regional thing. We use "bug" to refer exclusively to insects, never spiders or other arthropods.

A "Bug" Is any insect that has a piercing mouthpiece that uses it like a straw to drain sap/nectar/vital fluids from whatever they eat, but are also beetle like.

A "bug" can be considered any terrestrial arthropod, according to my old BIO182 textbook. So yeah, spiders are bugs.

I've seen it used to refer to terrestrial inverbrates in general, including slugs, snails, earthworms, leeches, velvet worms, etc.

In Pokemon it's generally used for terrestrial arthropods, but there are exceptions like Anorith/Armaldo. And I'm not entirely sure what Shuckle or Shelmet/Accelgor are supposed to be.
