Its always pretty predictable. Their starter Pokemon, the box legend, a legendary bird, Mewtwo, the Kanto starter, and Zygarde. And they almost always use Mewtwo and their starter, with Mewtwo being the mega. To figure out which one, just look at their box legend. You can counter pick from there.

I didn't tailor my team to beat this sort of thing, so it's kind of a pain in the ass to lose my fast attackers to some 12 year old with moltres and Yvetal

and I fought my brother who is rather competent and both our teams were brought to a standstill on a near-tie.
