Shauna was crying because "Boo hoo, I wanna be a hero too. I know Puzzles and shit!" They only talked about that shit like two times in the entire game and it sure as fuck didn't sound like a hanging thread.
Adding to that, you might have run into them a few times because they sounded like they wanted to make money -- so do you pay 5 million Pokedollars to join them or do you work that off? That was also a confusing aspect.
Not to mention Lysandre sounded GENUINELY concerned about how the world's resources are limited while very few of the games ever suggest decadence aside from -- of all things -- members of evil Teams.
So if they were to give an idea of how the Pokémon world isn't perfect and seems to have wars even in modern times, the least they can do is show actual suggestions of that crap instead of sweeping it aside for the usual formula. They have to sell games and toys, I get that but I felt this way about fucking Mega Man Star Force 2 as well where they talk about wars but don't suggest any knowledge of it. I'm just saying, it feels out of left field when they blurt details like that out of the blue.
