I had an interesting thing happen to me today, /vp/

>Opposing MegaZard Y
>Switch previously Mega Evolved Venusaur into a MegaZard Flamethrower
>It's Super Effective
>Venusaur dies

Can someone explain this shit? I thought Mega Venusaur had Thick Fat

m-Venusaur does have Thick fat, but in the Sun, Grass types gain an extra weakness to Fire, so Thickfat removes the weakness, and the sun adds it back.

No they don't. Fire moves just gain 50% power, against everything.

Yzard is just stronk. What were your Venusaur's EVs?

Thick Fat decreases fire damage by half so normally venusaur would take 1x damage from a fire attack. add 1.5x for sun and 1.5x for STAB and it ends up dealing 2.25x damage.

also, 1.5 x .5 = .75. Thick Fat isn't fully nullified by Sun

With Thick Fat active the Super Effective message is still there but does less damage. Here as other have said Flamethrower was boosted by Sunny Day and STAB. Mega Venusaur just resists the weakness to Fire, it's still there.
