Well I managed to EV train and evolve my Yamask from earlier. I had a pretty successful weekend with the Darumaka and the Yamask both hatching with amazing IV's. Will probably chain fish or something for the rest of the night.

I wouldn't count on it. He went through 534 boxes and I'm probably at around 220 and I'm only 1/4th of the way there. And that's just hatching, I'm going to have to SR for legendaries eventually and that's a whole other ordeal.

Well, it's better than the Radar because you can influence the Nature and IV's of your Shiny with Everstones and Destiny Knot.

And to cope with not going crazy, hatch while you watch TV or movies, it makes it so much easier.

We have a few people that stream movies and stuff for us sometimes for this exact reason actually. No streams tonight though.

PokéRadar doesn't let your choose nature, ability or IVs as easily, nor does it grant crucial Egg moves. It isn't easy, and while most times you may see posts like "got this in 17 eggs!" or something, they are infact a minority. Froakie took me 100 boxes of eggs, and Swirlix took me 57. It's tough, it's tedious, but it's the best way to guarantee a competitively viable legit shiny.

try watching a movie/tv whilst you do it.

Dm is a special attack and it lowers special attack after using it. At best that would be a one shot move, but with tyrunt's line having low spa to begin with it'd be a complete waste of a move slot. Consider the fact that its spa is roughly half of its attack to mean that any special attack would be half power compared to a physical attack

Also, don't be disappointed in yourself. For one, you got one of the nicest looking shinies in a box. That's outstanding.
For two, it was your first go at it. No one does everything right the first time. Egg moves are pretty simple too. Just have to have the parents with the moves you wish to pass, and if they're viable egg moves it will pass to the child. For tyrunt, you'd breed the moves through an arbok since it can learn all of the fang moves and shares an egg group.

I have no idea about charmander competitively, I stay away from starters on principle, and stealth rock made me stay even further from that guy. If no one here has a good build, you can try asking /cpg/ (competitive pokemon general)

Viable doesn't mean anything, it depends on what you want to run. Charizard Y is used because he summons sun and can help out sun teams off the bat. Charizard X is used because he's a good mixed sweeper and doesn't have that 4x weakness to rock everyone is always bitching about.

The moves that are generally bred onto charmander are dragon dance, dragon pulse, crunch. Look it up on serebii to check what moves you might want on it.

The fact that you got yourself a 5IV tyrunt on your first try is fucking ballin, kid. Keep it as a trophy and cherish it. Unfortunately....I think tyrantrum has this hidden ability that is unreleased as of now but is a lot better so you couldn't have gotten the most out of that pokemon yet anyways. It doesn't man you can't use it, just that if you're not going to be able to run what is considered "standard" sets, then customize your own Tyrantrum with whatever you think is best and will surprise people

Guys, good news! I had decided to take a break from breeding Cyndaquils and Cinccinos to do some levelling (droughtales if anyone is curious). Doing horde levelling, manage to encounter a shiny trevenant and grab it in a premier ball. It has natural cure and -spatk +spdef, so it is usable, IVs will probably be rubbish but I can at least raise it for battles with my more casual friends, or a gift for my partner. Really happy now, just hope that some of my luck spills over to you guys.

Red Raticate-project guy here. Still trying to hatch shiny Rattata. I think i hatched 400-500 eggs already. I don't know for sure but last time i battled it was saying something 500-600 eggs hatched. Bugs are super-easy to breed and hatch. You don't need a 5-6 IV foreign Ditto or Vivillon, but something else from the Bug Egg group should work. Otherwise, you can chain for Scatterbug in Santalune Forest. Just keep a Synchronizer with the desired nature in the lead of your party, and try to chain more than 40 pokémon before the shiny patch appears, as it means 3 IVs.

I will be chasing a 5IV, so I will look at males in my boxes that might be 4IV or so. MM isn't all it's cracked up to be. It took me 100 boxes to get a shiny Froakie, and 57 to get shiny Swirlix. What I usually do is prep a Pokémon so it has the desired nature, ability, IVs and egg moves, then start MMing. I got a Jap Ditto from a giveaway in, but there are occasionally threads here on /vp/ in which they give away cloned 6IV foreign Dittos.

Don't know much about Aurorus, but it looks like it could be use a decent Calm Mind set.

Freeze Dry is a good STAB move, plus it hits Water-types for Super Effective damage making it a better choice than Ice Beam. Thunderbolt gives nice coverage, but Ancient Power is STAB and has a small chance to boost all stats by 1. AS for the third move, Hidden Power would be fantastic if you could get it to be Fire. Otherwise, Dark Pulse hits Ghosts and Psychic-types, Flash Cannon gets rid of Fairy-types, and Frost Breath always lands as a crit. You could always ignore the 3rd move and use a Sub+Calm Mind set, with two attacking moves. I'd suggest an EV spread of 252 HP/252 Sp.Atk/6 Sp.Def. Either Modest or Calm nature.

I have no idea how HP works in Gen 6. You can check it at a house next to the Clothes Store in Anistar City. Maxing out HP seems good, seeing as it's Aurorus' highest stat, and 252 in Sp.Atk gives you more offensive power. The 6 EVs are only 6 because after that you've maxed out all your EVs.

510 EVs are the maximum you can get, in total. The maximum you can get per stat is 252 EVs. EVs are only relevant if they're evenly divisible by 4 (basically, for every 4 EVs in one stat you get +1 to each stat. So, if your Speed stat is 99, adding 4 EVs will make that Speed stat 100).

Made a bit of a mistake there, adding 4 EVs to a stat adds +1 to THAT stat, not each stat. You need 4 Speed EVs to make that Speed stat 100 instead of 99.
