That game was more balanced in Gen 2 (hard to believe). The gaps between Pokemon weren't as large. Now its pretty large.

Anyone else got that delightful feel when you pull up your bootstraps, put on your thinking helmet, and strategize and forumulate with your favorite but subpar Pokemon until you find a niche, a click, a counter, that WORKS?

I know what you mean, anon.

I specifically learned EV training this gen to make my Best Buddy Noivern viable. Gave him a good moveset with Choice Specs.
Now, he's pretty good and pulls his weight amazingly well. It felt fantastic that he can be a great support for my team now.

I run a Life Orb Noivern on my team, with maximum Speed investment, Timid. Very few outspeed his wrath, barring priority.

Choice Scarf Parting Shot Pangoro is also deliciously viable.

Meteor / Hurricane / Flamethrower / Roost.

I flirted with a fourth attack, but I like the recovery. I really appreciate Flamethrower's extra coverage.
