Explain to me this /vp/. How does a Garchomp outspeed a Max Speed EV/Timid/Perfect IV's Mega Houndoom?
Answer: it fucking can't
I had the battle in the bag and the mofo decides to outspeed my Houndoom all willy-nilly and Earthquake my ass into the San Andreas fault. I wasn't aware that Hackmons were a thing in X and Y yet.

Your speed doesn't factor in for the first turn.

It uses the variable for speed to determine turn order before you mega evolve which is likely what happened. Most people aren't aware of this.

This was with no speed modifies to any pokemon whatsoever.

OP here, that seems to be the case. the Garchomp wasnt scarfed because it used Dragon Claw the turn before. all these Anon fags take me for a scrub. but then again, i wasnt aware of the mechanic u just posted. so maybe i am.

It also doesn't double base stats. It doubles the stat.

Nice trips. Honestly it took my a good loss or two to realized how I fucked up. It almost seems like an oversight of the programmers in my opinions. I mean giving mega bannette prankster but not letting it use it on the first turn seems like nothing but an insult to their own creation.

Same thing happened when bug buzz OHKO'd me when I was behind a sub and I had to do some serious thinking. Though I experienced that within the first week of the game being released.

Mega Houndoom's speed doesn't kick in until the turn after you Mega Evolve. Put protect on it if you want to stall the turn and be sure you're faster.

But the turns order has already been set because it is done before the evolution.
