A local group has decided to run their next tournament by Smogon OU rules with a few small additions such as requiring the Kalos born pentagon.

My extent of prior competitive battling knowledge is restricted to VGC rules, which are completely different considering that was doubles and this will be singles (not that I ever got past the first couple of rounds due to wanting to attempt making some of my favourites work).

Would battling on Showdown be a good place to start learning how to team build for this meta? I know it will be slightly different since pokemon like Genesect won't be any issue at the tournament I'm going to.
