I only nickname pokemon I can think of a good nickname for. which happens rarely. It's not that I don't want to, I'm just not nearly creative enough to come up with donut-steal originals that I like.
The only Pokemon I have that's nicknamed is Shady, my Umbreon, cause I'm a huge Eagles fan and it kinda fits.

I decided to nickname everything I caught in Y, because I never nickname anything in Pokémon games. You probably think "yeah, that's a really clever name", but it's just stupid. And, because it's stupid, I do it. Grants me great laughs when I run out of ideas and struggle to come with a shitty name.

Anyway, I nicknamed Pokémon I used in the playthrough. Probably not going to nickname competitive ones.

Breeded mons never get names, its pointless since in reality its just "bro" #92719. If I'm gonna look at it like its more than pixels than I'm gonna have to deal with the fact that that pokemon knows I offed at least 40 of its siblings before it was born and deemed good enough and is just a machine for war.

Out of two boxes full of pokemon I bred and nicknamed, these are the ones I like
Geb the Torterra, Zephyr the Togekiss, Viktor the Koffing, Graden the Durant, Omen the Absol, Rizon the Manectric. Shenzi the Mightyena, Yvonne the Persian, Amir the Lucario

9 names out of a little under 60 pokemon. There are about 12 names that I should especially kill myself for using, but this isn't a cringe thread so I won't post them.

I got traded a Golett early in B2 cause I wanted one for the playtrough. The guy who gave it to me spent some time to make it adamant, which I thought was really nice. Then when he traded it it was nicknamed Giant Robo. I've come to like it now, but at the time I thought it was stupid and didn't like it much since I never nickname my pokes. I used it for my playtrough nonetheless since the guy went through the trouble to get the right nature and I felt rude to ask for another, but if I gave someone a pokemon for their playtrough I'd at least check if it would be okay to name it. Now I felt disappointed.

anyway i used to nickname every single pokemon and if i come up with something clever i still do, but nowadays i leave them as default for the most part for a pretty autistic reason: i like to be as much like the NPC trainers as possible, which is also why i only catch things in regular pokeballs
