If mega evolution is supposed to represent a strong bond between a trainer and their Pokemon, then shouldn't a mon have a high happiness value before they're able to mega evolve?

Just stick a nickel under your circlepad and bike around, then come back 30 minutes later and the mon should be at max happiness.

It's honestly a fraction of the time people usually spend building competitive teams, anyway.
