Was hoping to generate some discussion on potential builds for Kabutops. He is beast with hidden ability and while not sporting the biggest movepool, still has potential I think.

I started looking at this pokemon while searching for a cool counter for talonflame. solid stats and weak armor as well as access to stab priority just seem too nice to pass up to me. I was thinking of something like this;

Kabutops@Leftovers
Jolly - 252Hp - 252Atk - 6SpD
Aqua Jet
Waterfall
Stone Edge
Stealth Rock

I feel a bit unsure of move choices although there are not a lot of options. And it will be fun tracking a stealth rock kabuto for sure.

Obviously with Swift Swim and usually with an Adamant nature. You can replace AJ with a fighting type move to help with Ferrothorn.

New question...is there a stat calc out there for gen 6? I've been poking around but strangely have come up empty handed. just a bunch of iv calcs. Did the numbers on a jolly kabutops with no speed evs and after one speed boost from weak armor would be at 312 speed. I just need to find the number for adamant talonflame with 252spe.

I can see swift swim being beast but I wasn't really looking at a rain team and thought weak armor might not be a bad alternative.

The weather nerf killed defensive weather strategies, Offensive weather still works just fine. Just make sure you have more then one rain dancer and you use damp stones. Kabutops is also by far the best physical Swift Swim user.

Yes. He just needs 235 speed which he can achieve with an adamant nature and 156 EVs in speed. This is assuming talonflame is adamant.

indeed and given the idea of endure shenanigans we may want to just put a full speed investment so as to be viable in situations where weak armor can't be activated.

found one HA kabuto being offered on gts asking for lugia. sad faces. I have a lileep up there that will hopefully draw attention but we shall see. I will definitely distribute leftovers if I manage to get this project rolling.
