If you want to go by gen, then that's harder to do. The same principle applies, though, although you may have to thin it down by just the pokes you think are the best. Try to ignore viability or even movepools at all. (although if you can't, then what are you asking for, your pokemon are already picked out for you, go to Smogon) They may not be the best pokemon, but they are your pokemon.
Mine is Mega Charizard X. I always liked Charizard, I like dragons. For Char to become a real dragon was the best thing to ever happen.
