Definitely Ramos couldn't give two fucks when I reached him.

Literally all of them.

When I am actively reminded that they exist, I can sort of be like "Oh yeah, I remember that battle", but any other time I would be hard-pressed to remember any of them.

That's true of Gen 5 too. And also Gen 2 for some reason, even though it's one of my favorites.

That leaves Ramos, Clemont, Valerie and Olympia who all have very little influence on the plot, however

This brings it down to Ramos and Olympia
Personally, I liked Ramos' gym and personality a lot, so it's easy for me to remember him over Olympia, who is terribly bland and has only three or so lines of dialog over the course of the whole game.
So objectively it's either Ramos or Olympia, subjectively it's Olympia

Wulfric was probably meant to be one of those burly middle-aged men with a touch of grey, but he got a bit more touch of grey than you'd expect. Ramos is also kind of neat because he has the guise of a frail old man who uses garden clippers as a cane, but actually had the strength to landscape his entire gym. But yeah, I get what you mean about it seeming unnecessary to have two old men as gym leaders in the same region.

I really wish the gym leaders had more plot involvement or out-of-the-gym cameos aside from the Chateau, but there's hope for the next installations, I guess.

Olympia looks like she got shafted from the plot forcefully at the last minute. Considernig her town she would be the one telling you about the mega stone hunt in the end, not Platane. Ramos... is literally a glorified sprite. Dunno, maybe if they put some Flare grunts ate the gogoat farm so you get there and see him inviting you to his gym that woul have cut it, but in his present form is a nobody hidden in a terribly designed town with no story to it.

Best gym leader is the Ice one (not opinion, fact, check wikipedia)

Why is the Ice leader the best? Because he outright says his typing is ass and still uses it because he likes it. Worst leader this gen is the fairy girl because you all like her, and I am better than all of you.

Grant or Ramos. Grant's only slightly memorable because it takes so long to reach his gym.

I usually remember Olympia pretty well, mostly because I thought she was going to be the fairy type gym leader based off her silhouette and name, while Valerie would be a flying type leader. Plus she speaks in haiku, that's kind of neat.
