Assault Vest was created this gen. All priority moves are physical (until we get a special Gale Wings user, at least). EQ is one of the best moves in existence. U-Turn is physical, and it's much more popular than Volt Switch (due to hitting everything and having more/better distribution). A lot of Physically defensive mons are still weak to physical attacking types, namely Steel types (weak to Fighting) so you can still dent them with a SE hit, if not kill them.
Good special attackers tend to be glass cannons against both attacking types more often than physical attackers. See Starmie, Chandelure, Alakazam, Gengar. Stuff like Tyranitar and maybe Metagross can take hits, especially thanks to AV. (If Metagross hadn't been nerfed it would've done a lot better.)
