Technically, that is the best counter to Rotom, but it's only useful as a counter to rotom, so it's not really all that great. I mean, if Rotom REALLY gives you problems, you could use it, but otherwise it's not worth it. Still, I guess it fits in with the thread, so whatevs.

Gastrodon is actually a really good counter to a lot of common pokemon, such as azumarill. It's really bulky, and it can toxic stall really well in a sandstorm team. I use it in my sandstorm team and have tons of examples of it being effective against non-rotom pokemon haha.

Yeah, but they'll be forced to switch out. If they have a rapid spinner, then try to take it out before hand. But if you have rocks, a talonflame can only switch in once, if it doesn't have leftovers.

Ehhhhh... Mega-saur is often better at it than a lot of things, but it can lay down Spikes and Toxic Spikes and make good use of Petal Dance and Leaf Storm. It can also tank status with Natural Cure.

Best counter I have seen so far is Amoonguss. Pretty much anything Wash does doesn't really bother Amoonguss that badly. It laughs at hydro pumps, even from specs with max special attack investment, when rotom-wash predictably volt switches out you just use Spore (I run Spore + Stun Spore) on whatever switches in. If Rotom decides to use trick on you it will pick up a black sludge and take more damage per turn and really just ends up fucking itself over more, sure scarf amoonguss sucks but at least it's not completely useless.

The worst thing rotom can do to amoonguss is will o wisp it, and the residual damage from a burn is negligible with black sludge recovery. Sorry but I do not fear these things whatsoever.

And mega venusaur is an even more solid counter, the mega stone is untradable, and all you have to worry about is getting burned although most mega venusaurs only pack EQ for a physical attack.

Seriously, if you struggle to counter rotom-wash, you really need to reevaluate your life, especially since rotom wash is on almost every wifi team there is.

I'm against that set anyways because it makes Gastrodon less effective against most things, but it's viable as a rotom counter I guess.

Celebi doesn't mind a choice item, but most standard Rotom counters don't really like getting choiced. That's why one should always scout it first.

Trick sets are much inferior anyways, so they're easier to handle.

Scouting is easier said than done, whole reason it tends to fuck people over is it needs a different approach to deal with by then it's too late.

With all said though I use a Lanturn which fucks Rotom all day long, badass happy fish enjoys seeing Rotom forms since Cut no longer sees use.

The one time I had a Rotom-W against my Lanturn the Rotom-W could do shit to Lanturn offensively. However, it burned Lanturn and since my Lanturn is built defensively Lanturn could not do enough damage to it and it Rest stalled me to death.

Scouting is not hard. Get hazards in, no lefties recovery, and you'll see that it's either Chesto rest or Scarf. Then it's easy. If it switches moves, it's chesto, if it outspeeds something it shouldn't, it's scarf.
Volt Switch can make this annoying, but just force it to use moves that are not volt switch.
If you have a poke with Protect, it's even easier.
