I think EV/IV shit is fucking irritating and should be removed as soon as possible. I don't play pokemon to fucking become a genetic engineer, I just want to battle and explore and trade and complete the pokedex.

However if I even want to compete with anyone who isn't a scrub I have to spend literal hours breeding and grinding and super training and all sorts of bullshit. Yes I mad.

Accepting that not only are children not retarded, but that older people make up a huge majority of the people playing. The handholding is ridiculous, and the lack of difficulty is sickening. Every one here played games that were pretty challenging as kids, kids today can handle it and if not then put an easy mode option in it for them and a hard mode for whoever wants it. Story is a big thing as well that has just been awful across the board. Pokemon has god-tier potential for some great storytelling based on the Pokemon world alone, why we have to be forced to sit through Lysandre and AZ meander around doing groan inducing things I don't know. Also destiny knot should give us the full six Iv's, giving us five is called blue balling, and they also have to overhaul stats and make some more pokemon useful. They should just genuinely care enough to make a great game, not 20 hours of schlock before a breeding extravaganza. We are paying money for these games and want something good, not game freak constantly cashing in.

Right now, the smart thing to do is just rush trough the game with an overleveld starter to strart breeding, because hey any pokemon you catch in the wild has either: shit nature, shit IV's or shit ability.

Maybe breeding was intended as a fun side gimmick but egg moves already made it mandatory and now it's grown into a monster.

Honestly, I agree with OP on this one. I would love to be able to just catch the pokemon I want and get to raising it right away with confidence that if I raise it right it will be in the top percentage of Rattata. I would be very happy to get rid of IVs and I'd also really be happy to get rid of natures. These things just equate to a large population of useless pokemon and it's really just busywork. EVs can stay though.

Starters should be in a special ball that makes it start with 0 IVs and allows it to improve IVs to max through battling and bonding

The level curve.

Right now having a team of lvl 60 pokemon means you're unstoppable in every generation.

There's no reason to level beyond that point the elite 4 should be around lvl 90 and evolutions need be spread out more too. Like your starter evolves around lvl 30 and lvl 70.

About the IV thing, what I've been thinking is that lower IV Pokemon should have a higher EV max, and vice-versa for perfect IV Pokemon. It's kind of like if your Pokemon wasn't born perfect, it could still have the same strength as a perfect one based on it's efforts (EVs.)

If the mark filled by itself when the judge tells you the ivs that would be nice too, I get paranoid and triple check before disposing of leftovers, but it's fine as it is, whatever.

I can see why legendary's are an exception, but I don't see why normal fully evolved pokemon shouldn't get an equal starting point.

To people complaining about a sunflora being on the same level as salamence. A pikachu can fuck up a gyrados so realism isn't the major concern here.

What I would like to see is some way to change a Pokemon's hidden power type, maybe require max friendship and leveling up so many times with the type specific Arceus Plate or something.

That or just make a few new TM's/Tutor Moves that are effectively Hidden Power (60 power, special, no secondary effects) for a few of the most common types - Fire, Ice, etc. - and basically let any pokemon learn them.
