Yes you could. MMing a [very] large number of pokémon can give you a rough estimation of the probabilty.
For 1/500 it would be about 500 000 pokémon. Then again, that's a lot.

yeah its disappointing but funny enough, I only seem to hatch my shiny in the evening when I'm just barely paying attention. The first one I wasn't having a good day and I was watching comedy and bam shiny, the next one I was half asleep, this last one I was eating Chinese food with my dad and I set the Ds down on the table while the eggs hatched and when I looked down I almost couldn't believe there was a shiny, it felt out of place getting a shiny at a Chinese buffet, a bit anti climatic

That made me chuckle cause it's the exact same thing for me. When I'm not watching the screen I seem to hatch everything shiny and when I'm OD into it I don't hatch anything at all.

It also seems like everytime I start getting comfortable in bed and about just lurk the interweb, that's when a shiny comes along, so everything I've ever hatched happened when I was in pyjamas and in bed.

if your streetpass counts how many "steps" your Ds takes with you, when it notes that you have taken 4000 steps, it gives your 4 times recharge to your o powers. You don't have to walk if you don't want to, you can just shake your Ds a little and it counts it as steps. It takes a little while but I feel that its very worth it. When I had it I never had to wait to use any o power and even had some left to give away.

MMing for this cyndaquil is killing me.
I am tempted to try changing the parents but that means theres less chance of it having 5 ivs.

I guess its still filling time until the damn bank comes out, and I cant use it until then anyway. Intending to start a new game with an all shiny team, with decent IVs if possible, and EV trained.
But two weeks on this, its just torture now.

But theres still some spite back there.

Out of curiosity how do you guys organise your Masuda hunts?
pretty much for this entire hunt I have stayed outside the day care and grabbed eggs as they appear, hatched them then run inside, boxed or released the pokemon and straight back out to fill the empty spaces with eggs.

For the last 4 boxes though I am collecting the eggs in boxes then going to lumiose and riding around the centre, doing a box at a time.

Not sure which is better, although lumiose method is feeling a bit more efficient.

I think it depends on the colouring of the pokemon, its nice to get one that matches.

But then one thing about catching with a premier ball is bragging rights. Obviously easier to use ultraballs or quickballs.
Don't know what people have against standard pokeballs in that case though. They are the main design and the most recognised of all pokeballs, so why not?
Unless you justify it as premier balls are rarer, different coloured poke balls. Shiny poke balls. That have become easier to obtain in gen 6... Great googally moogally its all making sense now.

I've picked up some basic stuff, usually just translating words that interested me, but I think hiragana, katakana, and kanji are going to kill me. Got some obvious japanophiles in the class, but besides the girl trying to be a Japanese schoolgirl, everyone seems nice and non-obnoxious.

Our sensei (sensee? I've seen and read both this week, so confusing) is impressed that we're picking up on the grammar as quickly as we are.

I'm surprised that the 9 am bonus study sessions aren't killing me. Before this semester waking up before 11 was a chore. Then again, I'm only at school 4 hours a day as opposed to 6-8...

Actually, I make an effort to catch every single non-shiny Pokemon in regular Poke Balls (even the legendaries). Granted, catching legendaries nowadays is laughably easy, but still.

I think my greatest accomplishment was catching Dialga in the default ball.

Yeah, anyone that passes the first year of Japanese here is eligible for a month or study abroad that summer. After that we can even study a full year or do work study. It'd be neat to go, but I'll have to make sure my language skills are polished enough.
