Well, if you happen to really want that Pokemon Shiny, then go for it. Clauncher and Kingdra for example are very useful, even if they are Fishing Shinies.

Some people like to have larger collections too, and will collect Fishing Shinies for the sake of having more Shiny Pokemon.

If you mostly aim to trade Shinies though, they wont get you far.

I have yet to hatch a legit shiny aside from instacheck. I have vowed to complete the national dex for the charm over this weekend before I breed anything else, already got the legendaries out of the way,just need to evolve shit and jew a little for bankmons on the GTS.

Im starting shiny hunting. I got a japanese Treecko on WonderTrade so im rolling with that as my very first shiny.

I then got the shiny charm and went to his safari looking for HA Sandshrews, I ended up getting a shiny Nincada. Adamant, perfect Attack and Speed. Turns out it's competitively perfect as a Shedinja thanks to those IVs and that Nature.

Now I'm mming Sandshrew while messing around in showdown. I've hatched nearly 4k eggs total, with most of them being MM. Got only 2 shinies from all that. There's still no general consensus on whether Shiny Charm works for eggs, is there?

I keep flip flopping between what I'm breeding, I can't decide which shiny I want the most. To chose from I have: Emboar, Samurott, Darmantian, Nidoking (but I hate Nidoqueen) Ampharos, Eelektross, and Swampert.

Charizard is my favourite pokemon, was so glad when they announced he was going to switch to dragon type, but the shiny was a hell of a let down.
I think they should have made the X shiny coloured like a normal charizard. Orange with red flames or something.

Geez, that's good. Always nice to get a quick shiny. I got a female Ralts in three boxes a week or so ago.
My housemate had just got and finished the game, he's doing the Pokedex so he at least has some concept why I'm cycling back and forth. Got it the morning after I'd started while sitting next to him. He still doesn't understand the appeal though, thinks I'm nuts.

Hey Miles, just a heads up. Not sure if you care about hacked/impossible Pokemon, but that Genesect has a English name when it was only ever released in Japan.

Assuming that doesn't bother you, it has perfect IV's in every stat, so that's something I guess.

No, the cartridge used in Japan would have been the Japanese one. It doesn't adjust based on the game. If I was to go over to Japan to one of their Pokemon Center distributions, it would still download a Japanese one to my game.

Do the English characters exceed 5 letters (like is it nicknamed or is it "Genesect") and are the letters more blocky?

Also, I think some people said that bank might fix the language of the Pokemon upon transfer, so maybe if someone with bank is playing a Japanese XY in English, then it translates from their Japanese Gen 5 game to English in Gen 6?

I don't know enough about bank to be sure though.

Pick a Pokemon that you really want a shiny version of. Also, preferably a Pokemon that you like and wouldn't mind seeing possibly thousands of times (maybe not your favorite because you might grow to resent them, and that's bad).

Additionally, pace yourself. It's fine to do 15 boxes a day, but you can burn yourself out easily. Take breaks, or set limits of doing about 5 boxes a day.

Additionally, you might want to pick up radar chaining or fishing chaining, whatever grabs you the most. It's nice to do that after a day of unsuccessful eggs and still wind up with a shiny to show for the work. It's kinda like a reward, because even though you didn't get the shiny you're breeding, you still got a shiny.

Also, having background noise or a distraction helps when you're playing bicycle simulator, so we usually have streams on Saturday and Sunday to hang out and breed shit.

So anyways welcome, and remember, the ride never ends.

Currently on about 510 eggs for Porygon for my first ever Masuda project. I hope the EVs fall in the right places when I get it. When it comes out I'm cloning it so I can have a shiny Porygon2 and Porygon-Z.
